I’ve been thinking a lot about Bob Kinnear lately.
When he announced today that TTC workers will strike on Monday, unless a deal can be reached over the weekend, he became an instant target. Let forth the venom, Toronto.
Well, not that he hasn’t already been under fire lately. Even mention the word ’strike’ in connection with the TTC and the city as a whole starts arching its back, like a tom cat on guard. And as the head of the union, Bob Kinnear’s been at the heart of all the ire.
But I can’t stop thinking about him. Bob Kinnear. The person. Bob.

Although I’m ‘not a stranger’ to print journalism, I’m ‘basically a noob’ when it comes to blogging. Unless you count my livejournal, which, well. So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the differences between journalism and blogging. I thought I’d make a post about those differences, but I found I actually had a lot to say about each one (shocking, I know), so I think it’ll stretch itself into few posts.

This is a blog about writing, but it’s also a blog about reading, and about seeing, and about feeling. It’s a blog about understanding, or at least trying to understand. I don’t think you can be a writer without having a real engagement in the world around you.
